Tiny Details: Macro Photography in Newborn Sessions | Cedar Falls Newborn Photographer

As a newborn, one of my favorite parts of every session is capturing those tiny details. The little lashes, flaky toes, the adorable belly button or umbilical stump... These small details are often parents’ favorite images, because they freeze the things that change so quickly.
On my YouTube channel, I decided to take a closer look (literally) at macro photography — and I compared my Canon 100mm 2.8L macro lens to a much more affordable macro extension tube setup. You can watch the full comparison below
Whether you’re a photographer curious about your next gear upgrade or a hobbyist parent wondering how I capture those dreamy close-up shots, this video shows just how much you can do even without the most expensive equipment.
No matter what gear I’m using, my goal with these shots is always the same: to preserve those tiny features you’ll never want to forget. Because years from now, those close-ups will take you right back to the newborn days.
If you’re expecting and love these kinds of timeless, detailed images, I’d love to photograph your little one! You can learn more about my newborn sessions here.
