Jamir’s Sweet & Simple 1 Year Milestone Session | Cedar Falls Photographer
I just love one year sessions so much! The babes are still little enough to have those perfect baby cheeks, but they’re also becoming their own tiny person with so much personality. And happy baby Jamir absolutely brought the personality to his 1 year milestone session!
For this session, we kept things simple, warm, and very much in line with my photography style. Jamir wore three adorable knit outfits from my client closet collection, all from The Newborn Nerds outfit collection. We paired them with coordinating seamless backdrops and kept everything monochromatic and cozy so that Jamir stayed the focus.
You really don't have to bring a thing
One of my favorite things about having a studio client closet is that you don't have to show up to your milestone session with a suitcase full of outfits! In fact, if you love the look of the photos you see on my social media, there's a very good chance the baby is wearing an outfit from my collection. 😂 Pretty much all of those adorable little baby outfits you see in my work come from my studio client closet. I have a collection of pieces specifically chosen to work with the simple, monochromatic style I love. That means I can put together outfits, backdrops and props that coordinate beautifully without everything feeling overly matched or busy.
For Jamir, we went with three different knit looks, each with its own coordinating setup. The warm mustard, earthy brown and soft sage tones gave us some variety while still keeping the entire gallery cohesive.
Lots of personality at one year old
One-year-olds are also at such a fun stage for photography because they are BUSY. 😂
They're crawling, sitting, standing, exploring, smiling, making funny faces and generally doing whatever they feel like doing. Rather than trying to force them into a bunch of poses, I love letting their personality take over and photographing them as they are. Sometimes if you push too hard, babies get overstimulated, and the session is over at that point.
Jamir gave us everything from sweet, serious little expressions to big smiles and some very cute crawling action.
We also got some closer portraits, which are always a favorite of mine. Those little faces change so quickly at this age, so I love making sure we capture the tiny details, too.
